About Nisha Chauhan AND HER Farm

I am Nisha Chauhan, 39 and I have done Agriculture Management Course from Udaipur University. My husband is working in the government revenue department in Rampur and my son is in B.Com 2nd year.

I started with organic farming by launching a project related to it and made a group of farmers to promote it amongst the farmers. There are total 667 farmers from Himachal Pradesh who are a part of this group. Of these 667 farmers, 500 farmers are working on organic paddy, wheat, pulses and vegetable farming. The rest, 167 farmers are working on organic vegetable farming only. All of these farmers belong to Rampur District and all of them are certified for organic farming.

Organic farming is a method of crop cultivation in which pesticides, insecticides fertilizers, antibiotics, genetically modified seeds, growth hormones and other types of chemicals are not used at all. My group, Jaidevta promotes organic and natural farming and holds workshops for farmers in which my group teaches them the beneficial methods for organic farming.

I also invite expert personnel from the agriculture field to train the farmers and make them aware about new and best practices about farming. I myself take interest in research of new methods and how they can be beneficial to farmers and hold seminars and meetings with farmers to spread awareness about these methods.

Message to Farmers

Land under agriculture is decreasing each year and if we want to save fertile land for future generations then we should avoid using chemicals in farming. The use of chemicals is causing many diseases like cancer. If we do organic farming and use organic products then not only will they be beneficial for our health but will also leave fertile lands for future generations. Organic farming is less expensive than farming practices using chemicals and pesticides. We can earn more profits as the cost inputs are less. So let us move towards an organic future.
